Juli.

maritimeday
Dear Maritime Stakeholders,
Welcome to the website of the 3rd edition of European Maritime Day, co-organised by the European Commission, the Spanish Presidency of the European Union and the Government of the Principality of Asturias!
The Maritime World will meet again in Gijón on 18-21 May 2010: we invite you to participate in this stakeholder event, with innovation for sustainable growth of maritime sectors and coastal regions as its main focus.
The programme of the European Maritime Day Stakeholder Conference is a result of collaborative efforts between a high number of stakeholders that engaged in the preparation of this annual event. We take this opportunity to thank all organisations which submitted thematic proposals and worked together to come up with a consistent programme of the event in Gijón.
European Maritime Day is the annual occasion in which the highest representatives of the political Europe speak to the maritime world. The agenda includes political sessions and more than 50 workshops focussing on six main directions of the Integrated Maritime Policy described in the Progress Report of the EU’s Integrated Maritime Policy of 15 October 2009, and in particular on sustainable economic growth, employment and innovation, cross-cutting policy tools, sustainability and the governance of sea basins.
Next to the official works of the Conference, you can visit the exhibition area at La Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura which showcases stands and exhibitions self-organised by stakeholders.
Last but not least, European Maritime Day will be celebrated across Europe: from Le Havre to Gdynia and from Turku to Trieste. We thank all involved cities, regions and organisations for having taken ownership of European Maritime Day by organising their own events in parallel to the central conference, thus bringing a wide variety of maritime issues to the public's attention across Europe.
We hope that you will find the European Maritime Day Stakeholder Conference inspiring and look forward to seeing you in Gijón!
